The Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has launched its new smartphone named Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 in India. It’s the successor to last year’s Redmi Note 4. The new Redmi Note 5 offers a bigger 5.99-inch display. The starting price of the phone is Rs. 9,999 in India.

The new Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. The display has a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels.

A Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor powers the Redmi Note 5. It comes with 3GB/4GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of internal storage. You can also use a microSD card for storage expansion.

The phone runs on Android Nougat operating system. It will be updated to Android Oreo soon. The device also has an IR Blaster to control TVs, ACs, etc.

In terms of camera, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 features a 12-megapixel rear camera with a dual-tone LED flash. On the front, the phone features a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash. I really liked that the new Redmi Note 5 comes with LED flash on both the cameras. This will help to take better photos in low lighting conditions.

The device has a huge 4,000mAh battery. Sadly, it doesn’t support fast charging. The handset has all the necessary connectivity options like Bluetooth, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, and GPS. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the phone.

The Redmi Note 5 price in India is Rs 9,999 for the variant with 3GB of RAM + 32GB of internal storage, and Rs 11,999 for the option with 4GB of RAM + 64GB of internal storage. The device will be available in four different colors – rose gold, black, gold, and blue. The phone will be available exclusively via Mi.com and Flipkart. Phones like Honor 9 lite, Infinix Hot S3, and Honor 7X are going to compete with Redmi Note 5.
